The UAE Red Crescent Authority is sending its sixth convoy of medical and relief assistance to the Gaza Strip as part of the leadership's incessant efforts to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people ahead the Eid Al Adha.
UAE Ambassador in Cairo Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri said that 35 trucks loaded with 500 tons of relief and medical supplies was delivered to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) at the Al-Auja border crossing to distribute them to the Gazans. ''The convoy was sent ahead of the Eid Al Adha as per directives of the UAE leadership to alleviate suffering of the Palestinian people during the religious occasion,'' he added.
UAE Consul in Cairo Dr. Rashid Al Afar affirmed that all measures were taken to ensure swift delivery and distribution of the humanitarian assistance to the Gazans before the Eid.
He commended efforts made by the Egyptian authorities to facilitate the passage of the convoy through the border crossings of Rafah and Auja into the Palestinian territories safely and quickly.
On behalf of the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian Ambassador in Egypt Barakat Al Fara paid tribute to the leadership, government and people of the UAE and the RCA for their consistent and firm support for the Palestinian people at all gathering and times to enable them gain their legitimate rights and . He said humanitarian assistance offered by the UAE to Palestinian people were valuable as they help them to bolster their resistance on their land.
