Russia, U.S. to draft two reports on Middle East settlement

Vladimir Putin and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice discussed the situation in the Middle East, including Lebanon and Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Saturday. They focused on the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on disarming and disbanding illegal armed groups in Lebanon, the minister said.

"It was agreed that independent experts would draft two reports on the matter which the Russian and U.S. delegations will use as a basis for their decisions," Lavrov said. The sides also discussed Iran's nuclear problem, the minister said.
