UAE is a pioneer in the field of environmental protection: Madfa
The UAE has gone a long way in the area of environmental protection, said Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Madfa, Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Environmental Agency (FEA). In a statement on the occasion of the 9th Environmental Day, Al Madfa said the UAE leadership attached a greater importance to environmental protection since the early days of the UAE federation, a forthright vision that laid the foundation for the establishment of several environmental bodies in the country.
'Owing to the UAE early commitment by the UAE leadership to the environmental issues, the UAE is now a leading country in the field of environmental protection', said Al Madfa. He added: 'I would like to take this opportunity to extend my profound gratitude to President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the emirates for their continued support to environmental issues', said Madfa.
He said the environmental day this year would be held under the banner of 'Good management of waste: a rational use of resources', so as to highlight the issue of waste management. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
