This approach emphasizes the importance of diversifying sources of income without depending on oil, and of building a sustainable economy, which necessarily requires the creation of parallel fully integrated infrastructure, including the judicial institutions which must be able to efficiently and effectively keep up with this rapid development.

The Undersecretary of the Judicial Department pointed out  to the need of providing quality services to the tourism industry, being one of the most promising investment sectors in Abu Dhabi. In this context, the Tourism Court and Prosecution under the umbrella of the Judicial Department would contribute in building a distinct reputation for tourism in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and in redesigning the tourism map in the region, hence enabling Abu Dhabi to compete in this vital economic field. The Tourism Court and Prosecution will continuously work in cooperation with the relevant authorities to ensure the provision of quality services in accordance with the best international practices, while upholding the rule of law through establishment of justice and maintenance of rights, he further added.

On his part, H.E. Counsellor Ali Mohammed Al Blushi, the Attorney General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, stated that the establishment of Tourism Court and Prosecution comes within the context of the Emirates keen interest to establish specialized prosecution offices, which allow prosecutors to gain accumulated experience in specialized fields, hence more accurate investigations, faster processing of cases, and easier dealings for customers. He added, time and speed are main factors in the tourism sector, taking into account tourists short duration of stay. The jurisdiction of the Tourism Court and Prosecution will be limited to minor violations and misdemeanors that do not mount to felonies, and it will work in accordance with the principles of the rule of law and observance of human rights.

The Attorney General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi further said that this step will help in the creation of a clear database of legal issues that may face tourists during their stay in the country; in particular those resulting from the differences among people cultures and laws applicable in different countries. Accordingly, legislative and educational solutions may be found to abate such complexities in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
