The Emirates Palace has once again emerged as the bright star at the 16th World Travel Awards, the travel, tourism and hospitality industry’s most coveted international recognition, winning four awards :Abu Dhabi's Leading Hotel, Abu Dhabi's Leading Conference Hotel, Abu Dhabi's Leading Resort and Middle East Leading Conference Resort.
The world accolades were presented to General Manager of Emirates Palace, Mr. Hans Olbertz, at a glittering gala ceremony staged by the organizers, the World Travel Awards, at the Monarch Hotel in Dubai last week in the presence of a galaxy of leaders and senior professionals from the travel, tourism and hospitality along with other award winners, nominees and the press. The ceremony was also graced by managers of hotels, travel and tourism agencies and airlines.
Organisers said Abu Dhabi made a strong show of force by winning 10 awards, the highest number of awards ever won by a new travel and tourism destination. The capital of the UAE, which has embarked on an ambitious long-term tourism development plan, also saw a record number of nominations this year.
The event, which has been hailed as the "Oscars of the Travel Industry ‘’ by the Wall Street Journal will celebrate the travel and tourism industry’s best practices by recognizing achievements from over 100 travel and tourism brands from across the Middle East. Commenting on the fresh success, General Manager of Emirates Palace, Mr. Hans Olbertz, expressed his extreme delight at the unprecedented achievement. ''The Palace has bagged four prestigious honours, a landmark achievement that a hotel can rarely make at one shot,''Mr. Olbertz said.
In a statement following the award-winning ceremony, Mr. Olbertz said these world class awards are a vote of confidence by the industry experts, professionals and clients in the superior and premier services and products the Palace delivers to the business community in Abu Dhabi, the UAE and beyond.
