Eight years after nearly 3000 people died in the attacks on New York’s World Trade Centre, dramatic unseen footage has been released for the first time. In New York, thousands of people are expected to hold moments of silence four times — twice for when the jetliners crashed into the world trade centre, and for the moments the towers collapsed.
President Obama will meet victims’ families and lay a wreath at a memorial service at the Pentagon in Washington, where 184 people died. Many Americans also plan to donate their time and labour after Obama said the anniversary would be dedicated to public service this year for the first time.
