CNIA signs several large-scale training contracts

Abu Dhabi — March 3, 2010 -- The Critical National Infrastructure Authority (CNIA), signed several large contracts for training to develop the skills of its employees during its participation in ISNR 2010. HE Staff Brigadier Pilot, Faris Al Mazrouei, Director General of CNIA in Abu Dhabi, said during the press conference that the contracts are specially designed to guide security personnel in the development of skills at global professional standards.

He also pointed to the outstanding leadership of HH Staff Brigadier Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of CNIA, in identifying and implementing top quality training programs for the staff of CNIA.

Staff Colonel Ishaq Mohammed Al Beshir, Executive Director of the Operations Sector at CNIA, added, “an important contract was signed with Team Camber Texas A&M, Camber Corporation and Power Training for about Dhs85 million, to deliver top quality training for our security personnel over the next 21 months.”

He also said during the conference, “Camber’s academically accredited program will incorporate training of various skills such as security procedures, crowd control, driving, first aid and shooting". Camber training incorporates various skills such as security procedures, crowd control, driving, first aid and shooting.  The program is developed and taught on five levels and is academically accredited in the United States. The program runs for approximately 21 months.

CNIA also signed a Dhs9 million contract with Team Camber, for the delivery of leadership development for security personnel.  This contract trains non-commissioned officers in leadership within CNIA. The second part of this 12-month contract, is a workshop that will help officers to develop and effectively use NCOs within CNIA.  

Four additional instructors will remain in Abu Dhabi throughout the year as training, advisory and counseling staff to aid the local instructors.  They will be responsible for the physical fitness program and the teaching of military discipline.
In addition, CNIA signed a Dhs42 million contract with Mike Stapleton Associates (MSA), in partnership with the Global Maritime and Transportation School – US Merchant Marine Academy, to deliver maritime training.

This contract will train CNIA soldiers over a period of 16 months in basic maritime skills for the operation of small craft.  Topics include basic seamanship, survival at sea, search and rescue and maritime security. Furthermore, CNIA signed a Dhs40 million contract with MSA, in academic partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, to deliver a rapid reaction training force.  

This contract will train CNIA soldiers in advanced skills in weapons handling and tactics, in order to respond in an armed crisis.  This 12-month program is accredited and has various certifications.

CNIA also signed a 12-month contract for Dhs9.6 million for counter terrorism training, focusing on the development of CNIA’s security department in counter terrorism intelligence operations and assessment. And finally, CNIA signed a 12-month contract for Dhs3.1 million to deliver training for counter terrorism surveillance. This training is for the security department to develop skills in surveillance detection.
