January, 24th 2012  Abu Dhabi to launch second satellite soon
Abu Dhabi is preparing to launch its second satellite into orbit within a couple of months, according to a senior official of the Al Yah Satellite Communications Company, or Yahsat Yahsat, which is fully-owned by Mubadala, in April last year sent its first satellite into space.

Foreign companies setting up in specialised economic zones or making major investments in strategic sectors such as tourism and manufacturing may obtain full equity ownership, said Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
His comments clarified a doubt on the draft companies law approved by the UAE cabinet last week.

The UAE’s GDP is expected to peak at Dh1.248 trillion in current prices this year to maintain its position as the largest in the Arab world after Saudi Arabia’s economy, according to an official study. The expected level this year will be nearly 198 times the country’s nominal gross domestic product of Dh6.5 billion when it was established in 1971, the Dubai Economic Council said in the study, dubbed “the document of the union era.”

June, 19th 2011  Government of Dubai successfully issues US Dollar bond for US$500 million
The Government of Dubai, acting through the Department of Finance, announced that it has successfully priced a US$500 million bond. The offering was very well received and was three times oversubscribed. The US$500 million ten-year bond with a put option at the end of 5 years will yield 5.59%. The pricing of the current issue is 1.1% lower than a similar USD 5 year bond issued last year which was then priced at 6.7%.
